How long do I have to sit to be effective?
When you are first starting to meditate, be kind to yourself. It is not easy to sit for long periods of time at first, nor is that necessary for your meditation to be beneficial. It is more important to do meditation daily.
Do I have to sit on the floor?
Sitting on the floor is not necessary. It is best to sit in a position where your back is straight - that could be on the floor, on a chair, or even laying down.
What should I bring to class?
We have mats and a variety of other props at the studio, but feel free to bring your own. There is tea and water here for your convenience. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in.
Is meditation a religion?
No, although many religions use meditation or prayer. Meditation is just a way of sitting quietly and going within. At Breathe, we offer many different types of meditation so each individual can find their perfect fit. You do not need to be affiliated with any religion to attend Breathe Studio classes.
Can my kids come to class?
We love meditating with kids! Kids are always welcome in the adult classes if they can participate (sit still long enough). Each child is different. We have meditated with children as young as 7 who can sit for hours and as old as 16 who could only do 5 minutes. You might want to try one of our Family classes or Kids specific classes first. However, if you want to bring your child and it doesn't work you can always just leave quietly and try again in another setting. Kids bring a great energy to a meditation session and at Breathe we encourage their participation.
How long are the meditations?
Meditation classes are usually an hour to an hour and a half. - but the time in class is broken up. Beginners classes will have 5-11 minute meditations, other classes will offer 30 minute meditations.
What if I can't sit still?
This effects us all from time to time. This is a friendly environment. If you need to leave for a few minutes and start over you can always give yourself a break. Also, shifting a bit is normal, especially when you first start. It takes a few tries to find what is most comfortable for you. Breathe Studio is a place you can come to practice and learn to be patient with yourself.
Can I write a check?
Yes. If you want to register ahead of the class to take advantage of the early discount, please call to confirm your registration.
